The owner Andrew Dawson extends a warm Yorkshire welcome to Fernside Cottage, Thornton-in-Craven, Skipton; the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.
Fernside Holiday Cottage is a deluxe one bedroom new build. The cottage is a character property, attached to Fernside House, with a spacious modern interior. Quietly situated in an elevated position, Fernside Cottage offers delightful accommodation encompassing wonderful far-reaching views over the open countryside.
Furnished and decorated to a particularly high standard, I have tried to provide everything you will need to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing holiday. I hope that my attention to detail is what my guests will remember. However, if there is something I haven't considered please let me know.
Nestled within the village of Thornton-in-Craven, Fernside Cottage makes a perfect holiday base from which to explore the surrounding area with the bustling market town of Skipton, some 6 miles south west. Skipton is home to a beautiful Norman Castle which proudly stands at the head of the High Street, lined by cobbled setts and where you will find the very popular 4 day a week outdoor market.
The village of Haworth, famed for its Bronte connections and home to the Bronte Parsonage and museum is approximately 15 miles and well worthy of a visit. Along with a good selection of shops providing gifts and curios, Haworth is also home to the Worth Valley Steam Railway line.
To the west of Thornton there is Clitheroe [11 miles] crowned by its own historic Castle and enjoying a privileged situation on the doorstep of the delicious Forest of Bowland. All this huge, incalculable wealth of history and natural beauty lies in wait for Fernside Cottage's adventurous visitors!
The Pennine Way, Britain's best-known National Trail winds for 256 miles (412km) passing through Thornton-in-Craven. Along with The Pennine Way, excellent footpath walks, hikes and cycle ways can be found in the immediate area, with the tow path of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal easily accessible at nearby Greenberfield Locks, offering a gentler pace.
