Margaret my wife and I enjoyed immensely our recent stay in Fernside Cottage: we were all-but the first, fortunate guests to sample the splendid amenities which have been assembled by Andrew, a genial host, and Audrey his indefatigable partner; together they have created, in the exuberant Yorkshire Dales, a congenial and comfortable holiday haven which calls for eloquent appreciation.

We cannot speak too warmly of the charming characteristics with which Andrew and Audrey have endowed Fernside Cottage in its elevated and advantageous setting: front and rear alike offers a viewpoint over panoramic moorlands: the prospects on offer, to every visitor who loves to linger among the hills and dales of North Yorkshire, are immense and unconfined.

Fernside Cottage provides a tasteful and immaculate accommodation, upstairs and down. The décor and facilities together ensure an enriching and memorable acquaintance. At first entry, the Kitchen-Diner presents a comprehensive range of culinary facilities, all framed by a suite of contemporary Units in light oak. The marble- top Dining Table and Chairs complement the whole, attractive ensemble. The highly efficient Boiler Unit is housed behind one of the Cottage's admirable suite of doors, these all elegant in dark oak.

Aloft, a further host of comforts and pleasures awaits! The Lounge is delightfully furnished: it provides two settees, elegant and spacious which, come bedtime, resolve themselves into Double Beds. A Multi-purpose, wide -screen TV is installed but if ever all channels fail to please, the bureau's drawers supply a hefty variety of DVD games.

The Bedroom is a delight; it maintains all the merits of Fernside, aforementioned, in its décor and furnishings and, of course, there is an adorably-cosy double bed. The Bathroom boasts a refreshing Shower Unit amongst the usual facilities: here each necessary feature is of a high order!

The village of Thornton in Craven - with Fernside at its summit - possesses a lot of charm; the majority of its properties, whether old or new, large or small, present the traditional, impressive character of Pennine architecture. Within a short, brisk, five minute walk from Fernside a Rambler can set foot on the celebrated paths of The Pennine Way. Not far away lies Skipton [6 miles north] of which much might be written - its majestic , Norman castle topping the High Street - its unquestionable claim to be "the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales".

To the west of Thornton there is Clitheroe [11 miles] crowned by its own historic Castle and enjoying a privileged situation on the doorstep of the delicious Forest of Bowland. All this huge, incalculable wealth of history and natural beauty lies in wait for Fernside Cottage's adventurous visitors!

What immense privilege it is, then, to reflect on our holiday spent within its endearing walls, or else sallying forth into its spectacular environs! Andrew and Audrey have transformed the site, from all aspects of its former, farmstead existence and they have fulfilled their own cherished dream! In the course of this happy process, they have established an exquisite location for holiday folk which deserves and earns, from Margaret and me, the highest form of commendation ....and at the very least, just as much heart-warming appreciation!

In summary; what a gem this is! Congratulations to Audrey and Andrew for their vision accomplished - for the enjoyment of many to come. A wonderful stay. Very many thanks and much appreciation.
